SKD LikeShareLogo 250Reflection -  "Come Back"

St. Teresa of Avila is often credited with the saying, "God writes straight with crooked lines." Think about your life. Has it always gone according to the plan you had for it? For most of us, that answer is surely, "No". Our life's path twists and turns, sometimes throwing us off balance, and at other times providing unimaginable thrills!

Remember how you felt (or feel) when things went "off track"? Was there doubt? Fear? It's only by looking back from the other side, that we're able to see the value of the crooked line that becomes our life. We don't always see God's will for us as we're moving through it. The important thing to understand is that God uses each of these experiences to teach us to trust Him. God sees the whole canvas, far more than our limited, individualized view.

Remember Joseph in the Old Testament. His brothers staged his death and sold him to the Egyptians! (probably not part of his life's plan!). But God used the wickedness of Joseph's brothers (crooked line), to ultimately save Jacob's family. Pretty sure Joseph never saw that coming. But I'm also pretty sure Joseph knew God could make his crooked path straight again.

"God can restore what is broken and change it into something amazing. All you need is faith."

Reach out for God when the roller coaster of life is about to run off the track. Grab His hand. He will not fail you.

Heavenly Father,

Help me in those times when I'm afraid my life has gone off track. Help me to understand that even through the twists and turns in my life, you are with me. Help me to believe in your saving power to make good the mess that my life sometimes seems to be. Give me the courage to boldly believe in your plans for my life.

With the advance of cultural indifference, or even hostility toward religion and spirituality, our Church has been a little slow to respond. We depended on each generation to evangelize the next generation, and often enough, other cultural values eclipsed the message of the Gospel. We hope that our "Like and Share" project might reach some folks who are searching for something deeper in life. Perhaps some will even join us at Mass for another look.
